Conservation of Different Materials
I have been an objects conservator for over 15 years, including 5 years at the Royal Ontario Museum working on ancient and contemporary artifacts in their conservation department. Privately, I have considerable experience repairing and restoring family heirlooms and favourite objects - broken, discoloured or unsightly due to normal wear and tear. I am familiar with the repair and stabilization of ceramic, metal, glass, paper, plaster, wood, paint, stone, leather, and many composite materials.
What is Object Conservation or Restoration?
A Conservator is a professional, working in a museum setting or private practice, that specializes in the conservation of three-dimensional works. Within this field, I specialize in Object Conservation; repairing broken ceramics, stones and metals, restoring antique ornate wooden frames, surface cleaning paintings and prints, and repairing paper.
